PHILOSOPHY
I began my teaching career in 2000, teaching a precocious group of Kindergarteners in Fairview at Our Lady of Grace but I always knew I belonged in a middle school classroom. In 2001, I was fortunate enough to be hired by my childhood principal, Laurence Dunn. If you had the privilege of knowing Mr. Dunn, you may remember his kindness and unrelenting sense of hard work. I have held his values in my heart and continue to teach by his example.
As our educational system continues to evolve, so do the demands on our students. I believe that students of all ages require more than academics in the classroom. I have grown to understand that a career in education is a commitment to the individual. It is the daily challenge but extraordinary reward that I still cherish to this day.
My 25-year journey through various grade levels and classrooms has allowed me to reflect upon my educational philosophy:
- To encourage students to think critically and thoughtfully about ideas
- To help students feel confident about their ideas and to respect one another's ideas
- To show students the importance of embracing diversity
- To motivate students to put forth their personal best
- To instill in students a feeling of empathy for others
- To promote lifelong learning
- I played basketball for the Ridgefield Royals!
- I have a twin brother.
- My husband and I have three beautiful daughters.
- I love sports, scary movies, and card games.
