World History Grade 6 and 7

Welcome to Slocum Skewes Social Studies!! I currently teach 6th and 7th grade world history. Students have the opportunity to learn about and look into ancient civilizations of the past.

My hope is that all students will succeed and thrive in my classroom. Reaching this goal will often require encouragement and guidance by parents and family members. By working together we can make sure your child meets their specific goals.

Personally, I have been working in education for 37 years!! I began my career as a pre-k/kindergarten teacher at Bergen Boulevard School. Over the years, I have enjoyed teaching multiple subjects and grades as well as working as a school administrator for all students in the district. Three years ago, I was assigned to the middle school to teach world history.

I attended the University of Rhode Island where I earned a Bachelor of Science Degree. I am currently certified as an Elementary Education Teacher  K-8, as well as a Special Education/Students with Disabilities Teacher.

I also earned a Masters Degree from Montclair State University as a School Administrator/Supervisor

My husband Ed and I have three children: Brendan 24, Kate 2, and  Sean 19. Outside of the classroom, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, taking long walks, reading, and working in the yard.

My goal is to create connections within the classroom that helps drive learning and where every student feels empowered to think critically about history, government, and their responsibility to help shape the future. The classroom becomes engaging through discussion, partner work and real-world connections that hopefully inspire lifelong learning about the world around them.

I am always happy to make myself available for extra help, questions or concerns.

Looking forward to a fantastic year!
