Learning Center Teacher
Slocum-Skewes
Hello! My name is Ms. Densen and I am a Learning Center teacher at Slocum-Skewes school. This is my 5th year in the district and my 3rd year as a teacher. I've worked as a Teacher Assistant, a substitute teacher, an in-class support teacher, and now as a self-contained teacher. I am also the assistant girls' soccer coach at RMHS.
I earned a B.A. in Psychology and a B.A. in English from Trinity College-Hartford in 2022. I earned my M.A. in Special Education from Ramapo College, as well as my CEAS in Elementary Education from Rutgers University in 2025.
My teaching philosophy is as follows: All students are capable of all great things. Each student deserves access to the same opportunities and resources as all of their peers. My classroom will always be a safe space for both my students and any other students in other classrooms. In my classroom, all students are treated with respect, love, and, most importantly, they are treated equitably. I believe in equitability above all else because it allows everyone to get the help that they specifically need to thrive in and out of school. All adults and students are given access to all that they need when they need it to ensure that the best type of learning takes place. My classroom focuses on academics, social skills, and life skills to help students be the best versions of themselves they can be.
Outside of the classroom, I like spending time with my friends, family, and pets. I have 2 dogs named Gracie and Ellie and one cat named Wally. I like to read, drink coffee and tea, watch TV, and watch the New York Giants, Yankees, and Gotham FC.
