Ms. Weeks
Hello!
My name is Charlotte Weeks, and I'm proud to be a 3rd grade teacher at Slocum Skewes School. I've been a teacher for 25 years, and I've worn many hats. I've been a classroom teacher of 4th and now 3rd grade and I developed and taught the Gifted and Talented program for many years. I also helped to spearhead and teach the Response to Intervention program. I love being back in the 3rd grade for the past 5 years, helping children learn to love learning!
I have my Bachelor's degree from Rutgers University with a major in Psychology and a minor in Theatre. Both of these areas are places I draw from when working with students. I earned my Master's degree from Fordham University in Language and Literacy: Birth through 5th grade. I also was certified in the Orton Gillingham method of reading instruction, with a focus on Dyslexia. I believe strongly in creating a safe and loving environment, where the students feel valued and secure. We create a classroom community based on mutual respect, and from there, learning can develop.
When I'm not at school, I enjoy books, music, and theatre. Most of all, I enjoy being with my daughter, who is now in 2nd grade.
I look forward to working together to support the students!
