Slocum Skewes Social Worker
Greetings! My name is Mrs. Lewis-Martin, I am so excited to be the social worker at Slocum Skewes. This is my 3rd year as the social worker here at Slocum. One of the reasons I enjoy being a school social worker at Slocum, on a daily basis I get to work with students. It's an amazing feeling when a student allows me into their world. My favorite part is building a positive rapport with my students and watching them grow and flourish within our school environment where they feel safe, valued and most of all heard.
I earned my B.S. in Addition Counseling from Grand Canyon University, and my M.S. in Social Work from Our Lady of the Lake University. As a social worker it is my belief that everyone needs and deserves an advocate and the ability to be heard and understood. As the social worker here at Slocum I am creating a safe space for our students to come to and continue to work on coping skills, emotional regulation, transitional needs as well as peer interactions just to name a few. It is extremely important that we as a school continue to collaborate with our parents and community to ensure that we maintain a safe environment for all of our students to learn.
Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my family and creating memories.
I'm looking forward to another phenomial year!!!
