Ridgefield Robotics is open to 8th grade students who are self-motivated to learn basic programming in order to control the actions of their robots and work together to accomplish missions.
Students embark on a journey of self-discovery. They combine the engineering challenge of a robotics competition with real-world problem solving. Members learn science and technology skills at the same time as well as valuable employment and life skills. During the season, students will:
• Build a LEGO MINDSTORMS robot and attachments
• Program the robot to move on its own and perform missions
• Learn about engineering and physics concepts (sometimes learning them the hard way)
• Test different designs and make multiple adjustments
