Dr. Laurie Densen is the Supervisor of Instruction for the Slocum Skewes Learning Center. Dr. Densen has been working in Ridgefield since 1994, previously working as a 4th grade teacher in St. Philip's School in Clifton, and a basic skills reading teacher and reading specialist in the Paramus Public Schools. Before becoming the Supervisor of Instruction, Dr. Densen was the district's reading specialist, and a self-contained classroom teacher in Slocum Skewes, Bergen Boulevard School, and RMHS. She was also an Associate Teacher at Slocum Skewes, acting as a liaison between parents and the Administration.
Dr. Densen is life-long learner, an avid reader, and a die-hard New York Yankees fan. She has two daughters, ages 18 and 15, and is a proud soccer mom. Her husband is a special education teacher in Tenafly.
As the Supervisor of the Learning Center, Dr. Densen has one goal: to ensure that each student who enters the Slocum Skewes Learning Center is treated as an individual and becomes an independent young adult. Dr. Densen takes great pride in the Slocum Skewes Learning Center program and thanks all of the parents who send their students to our school.
