Hello! My name is Mrs. Melissa Colón and I began teaching at Shaler Academy January 2020. Prior to Ridgefield, I taught in a private school that served individuals on the autism spectrum from ages 3-21 using the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis. During my time there I held the following roles- 1:1 instructor, special education teacher, and classroom consultant. I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from William Paterson University. I continued my studies there and completed by post-baccalaureate elementary and special education studies to obtain certification and received my Masters of Arts in Teaching. I further continued my studies in Applied Behavior Analysis at Florida Institute of Technology and am a Board Certified Behavior Analyst.
