Preschool-3rd Grade Special Education Currently working on my Masters Degree
Hello! My name is Kathleen Estevez. I am very excited to be your child's preschool teacher this school year! This is my seventh year teaching at Shaler Academy. Prior to teaching, I was a para-professional at Ridgefield for five years. I am also the head volleyball coach at Ridgefield Memorial High School. I am currently working on my Masters at New Jersey City University. I graduated cum laude from John Jay School of Criminal Justice and worked as a paralegal for a few years in NYC. I decided to change careers and fell in love with teaching.
I believe every student has not only the right, but the desire to learn and succeed. I believe it is my greatest responsibility to create a positive environment in which each student can reach their full potential, both intellectually and emotionally. I believe teaching practices need to be developmentally and individually appropriate to each student. I am looking forward to getting to know your child so that I can best create a learning environment which is both stimulating and fun.
Most importantly, I believe parent communication is the most essential part of your child's success. I believe an effective teacher will ensure that there is an open line of communication with each parent in their classroom grounded with mutual respect and trust. I encourage you to contact me if you have any questions or concerns at any time. I will also do my part in writing in our communication book to give you an insight on your child's day and of any events we may have coming up.
