    • District Goals & Student Achievement 

      Increase focus and ongoing dialogue on the progress made toward the District’s goals, objectives, and academic performance. (The Board will seek ongoing updates on curriculum, programs, and test results.)

    • Board Operations & Performance

      Complete mandatory Board member training and attend more discretionary workshops in order to increase the effectiveness of board members individually and collectively. 

      Strive to more effectively refer to and apply the Board’s written policies as the framework for the Board’s deliberations and decisions.

    • Board, Community, & Staff
      Increase board member attendance at school and community activities and develop effective community relations via continued Board presentations and interactions.
    • Board Operations & Performance
      Complete mandated training and engage in discretionary individual, small group, or full board training workshops to increase board member effectiveness.
    • Finance
      Exercise increased financial oversight of district operations and budget process.
     
     
    Board Goals 2015-16
    • Community Engagement:
      The board will enhance the level of community engagement through implementation of a mechanism for community feedback such as using a dedicated email account, community survey and improved usage of the e-blast announcements.
    • Board Training and Awareness:
      The board will continue its training that will strengthen the Board as a whole and engage the community in learning about boards including completion required board training sessions in a timely manner and attending county and selected academy programs.
    • Long-range Facilities Plan Review:
      The Operations Committee (i.e., board members, superintendent, and business administrator) will continue to review and implement the Long-range Facilities Plan, considering such areas as safety and security, enrollment figures, and existing facilities needs and will report to the full Board of Education and facilitate full board discussion on supporting its findings and subsequent recommendations.

      • Identify areas of interest and necessity and coordinate presentation schedule with the Superintendent of Schools
      • Invite community to attend meetings via informative e-blast announcements prior to meetings
      • Enhance board section on new website
      • Podcast board meetings on the new district website

    • Board Training and Awareness
      • Engage in board training that will strengthen the Board as a whole and engage the community in learning about boards and what they do (e.g., Board Roles and Responsibilities, Ethics Training, and Superintendent Evaluation)
      • Complete required board training sessions in a timely manner 
      • Engage in additional board training on an individual and/or small group level

    • Long-range Facilities Plan Review
      • The Operations Committee (i.e., board members, superintendent, and business administrator) will meet to review the Long-range Facilities Plan, considering such areas as safety and security, enrollment figures, and existing facilities needs
      • The Operations Committee will report to the full Board of Education and facilitate full board discussion on supporting its findings and subsequent recommendations
