Welcome to EWL(English as a World Language) Class!

2023-2024 EWL (English as a World Language) Class Syllabus

    Mrs. Jang

    Course Description:
This course focuses on the development of the three modes of communication: Interpretive, Interpersonal, and Presentational.  Each unit includes activities that emphasize speaking, reading, writing, and listening skills. These skills are enriched with simultaneous language and functional study. Students are exposed to the basics of practical conversation and to the character, lifestyle, and social customs of the American people.

    1. Respect others, yourself, and the teacher all the time.

    2. Use polite and appropriate language. There will be no swearing, hitting, or rudeness in our classroom.

    3. Do not eat, chew gum, drink beverages, or wear a hat/earphones in our classroom.

Grades will consist of classwork, class attitude, tests & quizzes, projects & presentations, and homework. The final average for the marking period is determined by dividing the earned points by the attempted points.

If you submit an assignment after the due date without having made arrangements with me, a minimum of 10% of the total points will be deducted for each day.

The school attendance policy is strictly enforced in this class.  A total of 16 unexcused absences in a marking period will result in a grade of 55.
