Mr. Andrew MacDonald
About Me:
Greetings my name is Andrew MacDonald and I am very proud and excited to teach your child during this upcoming school year. My educational background includes: Undergraduate Degree: Montclair State College-English Education 1991 Graduate Degree: Montclair State University-Counseling and Student Services 2000 Additional Certificates: Supervisor Certificate 2003.
For the past 24 years I have been lucky enough to have been a grades 7-12 English teacher. During the past 23 years I have taught at Ridgefield Memorial High School. Courses that I have taught are: English 7, English 8, English 8 Honors, English 9, English 9 Honors, English 10, English 11, English 12, HSPA Skills, ESL, Creative Writing, SRA Development, and Journalism.
Besides working with students inside the classroom I have been involved in numerous extra-curricular activities. I have been the advisor to The Crown, Serendipity and I have coached softball, volleyball and basketball for many years.
It will be my pleasure to work with your child this year. Thank you for reading my page and have a great day.
Philosophy: My educational philosophy is simple, all students can learn. Students in my classes will be given an opportunity each day to learn literature, vocabulary, journalism or writing skills. They can all succeed in their own way and at their own pace. Students will be given homework, in small increments, that can be completed easily through planning and time management. Students will be given announced quizzes and tests, unannounced quizzes, alternative assessment projects, and essays.
Teacher Availability: Students may come before school at 7:30 a.m. in room 204 of the high school to meet with me regarding any difficulties or questions. Students may make appointments for after-school help. My phone number is 201-775-6814. Thank you.
