My Teaching Philosophy:

I believe that every child is an exceptional individual who needs a caring and stimulating environment in which to develop intellectually, emotionally, physically, and socially. As a teacher, it is my goal to provide an atmosphere where students can meet their fullest potential.  I am committed to teaching each student as an individual and will meet each child's needs individually.  Most importantly, I want to educate all of my students to become productive members of the community.

About Me:

I started working in Ridgefield in 1998 as a teacher's assistant.  My love for working with special-needs children and my desire to help their parents gave me the motivation to return to school to get my special education degree.  It took me 5 years to go to school nights but in 2005 I graduated with honors and received my BA in education, specializing in students with disabilities.  I am also certified to teach K-5 general education.  I have never regretted the choice I have made.  I have taught students ages 3-21 and in every area of special education.  I love coming to work each day and becoming a part of each and every student's lives.

Accomplishments:

In 2013 I was given the challenge of collaborating with my colleagues and creating a pre-strive and strive program at Slocum Skewes School.  We worked very hard on the program and implemented something very special for our students.  I am committed to educating my students in academic as well as in life skill areas that will help them develop into productive members of the community.
