The Language Arts Department aims to provide its students with a strong foundation for an analytical and personal approach to literature.  Students will have many opportunities to read literature from a variety of genres; in doing so, they will be encouraged to foster an appreciation for the influence, relevancy, and craft of literature.  Along with the study of literature, an extensive writing component is emphasized so that our students are critical readers and effective writers.  Writing assignments will develop students’ written expression and language skills through the writing process.  Speaking, viewing and listening components are also crucial elements of the Language Arts Program.
